 Al·lude v. i. [imp. & p. p. Alluded; p. pr. & vb. n. Alluding.]  To refer to something indirectly or by suggestion; to have reference to a subject not specifically and plainly mentioned; -- followed by to; as, the story alludes to a recent transaction.
