 Reb·el, n.  One who rebels.
 Syn: -- Revolter; insurgent.
 Usage: -- Rebel, Insurgent. Insurgent marks an early, and rebel a more advanced, stage of opposition to government. The former rises up against his rulers, the latter makes war upon them.
